Open Space & Park Management Committee
Milford Walkers/ Open Space Volunteer.
Spring 09 is here and we’re hoping that many of you are ready to walk and explore some of Milford’s most beautiful open spaces.
Recently Bill Poutray, chair of the Conservation Commission, introduced Dan Drago, also a member of the Conservation Commission, to a small group of volunteers who got together to plan our upcoming program. Dan will work with Helen Vecchione, another volunteer, to coordinate the walks for the Open Space Stewards.
They will organize the walks and communicate the times and dates and meeting places. We hope that you will join this growing group of people eager to enjoy Milford’s forests, wetlands, meadows, parks and beaches, and then report back to Dan and Helen about what you see that’s wonderful and what causes you concern.
When you go out, please bring along your plastic bags to pick up garbage, your cameras, compasses, binoculars, your friends, family and most of all, your outdoor skills and enthusiasm,
Some may choose to grab a bite after the walk so come prepared and thanks again for all you’ve done for Milford’s Open Spaces in the past and what you may do in the future.

Open Spaces: Problems and Progress encountered last season 08
Milford had an open space summer intern, Brian Webster, who has filed descriptive reports on the following properties which outline problems and progress.
As part of the effort to create and preserve open space in milford, Volunteer Stewards walk the properties and report back using simple quide lines and checklists.
2009 season has begun, with a walk to check in on beaverbrook and mondo ponds, you can learn more about milfords beautiful walk spots by downloading the free walk book available on the publications page.
If anyone has photos taken on these properties to share please send them as jpegs to laurellobo@milfordecc.com. below are photos of mondo pond clean up event.
