An Invitation (Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at 7:00pm)
Vincent Piselli has invited us to hear two guest speakers at the Conservation Commission Meeting on Wednesday, June 20th at 7:00pm.
The speakers are the Director of the CT Trust For Public Land and the Director of the Parks for People Program.
They will talk about how they consult with cities to develop funding and management plans for city parks.
They will also share success stories and ask if we want them to help guide us in restoring our parks in a constructive, community building atmosphere.

As she surveys the parks on foot, Barbara Milton will give us her impressions as a naturalist and longstanding environmental activist.

Here's what I saw on my last trip to Solomon: some ATV use but much less than last fall. Signs are up prohibiting ATV's but no signs prohibiting 4-wheel drives, though there should be. Walkers should bring their cell phones with them and call the police when spotting illegal activity. Captain Shea is our liaison with the Police Department. read more >>

Barbara Milton is a member of ECC and a founder of MEPI. She received her masters degree (MEM) from the Yale School of Forestry and environmental studies. She is former director of the Connecticut Audobon Coastal Center.
