Legislative Action Committee: Pesticides Archives
School Pesticide Bill (HB 5234)
Fantastic News! (5/23/07)
The Senate just voted on the school pesticide Bill (HB 5234) - and would you believe the Senate vote was unanimous. The Bill has a small amendment on it which does not effect the Bill - but it now must go back to the House for a re-vote. However the House had voted 145 in favor and only 2 against the Bill on May 9th. This bodes very well for its final passage.
This means that only 2 legislators in the whole state voted against this Bill. It is unbelievable that only 2 legislators out of 187 ( 36 State Senators and 151 State Representatives) voted against this Bill. This is indeed AMAZING.
Thank you all. So many of you worked so hard - and there are so many legislators to thank - but we will wait until it passes the House once again to thank everyone.
When the final House vote happens I will let you know - and then it will be time to thank so many people. Senator Finch did a great job tonight bringing up the Bill - and of coarse Senator Meyer who championed the Bill from the beginning has been wonderful. There are so many Representative to thank as well - but we will wait until it passes the House for the second time and then we will thank those very important Representatives who have been so incredibly helpful. |
