- You can contact your utility or one of the clean energy companies directly- please visit the web site above
***Please note that the environmentally controversial Levco Energy "100% Renewable" offer is not related to the CT Clean Energy Options and is not supported by Clean Water Fund. Levco refuses to disclose their sources, which may include trash incineration. Their option does not support new clean energy sources and has no demonstrated environmental benefit. Choosing this option will not count towards your town getting a free solar PV system through the 20% by 2010 clean communities program.***
Contact Roger Smith at rsmith@cleanwater.org or 860-232-6232 if you have questions about Levco's offer.
The CT Attorney General also announced an investigation of Levco in April.
CT Towns Commit to Clean Energy
You can help them earn a free solar energy installation!
Clean Water Fund, Smart Power, Environment Northeast, and the Interreligious Eco-Justice Network have been working with towns to commit to a 20% by 2010 clean energy purchase. With your strong and visible support, New Haven, Portland, Milford, West Hartford, Fairfield, New Britain, Westport and Stamford, Orange, Canton and the state government have committed to this goal to date.
Solar Incentive Program
The Connecticut Clean Energy Fund launched a new incentive program. If your town commits to purchasing 20% clean energy (see above) and 100 citizens in your town sign up for the CT Clean Energy Options on their electricity bills, your town will receive a free 1 kilowatt solar energy installation. You can help a school or first responder (police, fire, etc) earn a solar power system by signing up for clean energy! If your town hasn't yet committed to clean energy through the 20% by 2010 we can provide you with information to help you start a campaign in your town.
