The Milford Environmental Concerns Coalition (ECC) acts as a series of co-ordinated committees which address specific areas of concern in our city ie: open spaces, recycling, waterways, etc.

This blog is a resource for Milford residents, and a venue for MilfordECC members and community leaders who wish to share information with other concerned citizens.

What You Can Do To Make Milford More Sustainable

The information below were some thoughts Alan Brewster (who spoke at the May 17th ECC meeting) had about how the ECC could work to make Milford more sustainable.

  1. Get Milford to accept more materials for recycling
  2. Modify zoning for smart growth--higher density, mixed use linked to public transit
  3. Improve public transit--frequency, more routes, connections to Metro-North
  4. Improve conditions for bicycle riders
  5. Improve energy efficiency in all public facilities
  6. Invest in renewable energy sources
  7. Advocate for better public transit
  8. Advocate for other green house gas reduction programs--e.g., carbon tax, better car mileage (CAFE) standards
  9. Plant more trees
